ST trying to fix Dr Lee isit?

In Media on 21/06/2017 at 11:00 am

We know that Dr Lee is rowing with her brother the PM. We also know from her row with ST last year that she’s dyslexic. So I was laughing when I read it today’s ST:

Kids with dyslexia more prone to social, emotional problems: Study

Children with dyslexia are more likely to encounter a range of social and emotional difficulties – such as feelings of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem – than their peers.

And having strong social support networks may help to buffer them against such negative outcomes.

These were the main findings of a study by the University College London (UCL), based on responses of 99 Primary 3 pupils with dyslexia across 13 primary schools here.

  1. “Range of social & emotional difficulties” — no wonder Old Fart was such a bastard. Hmmm, did ST mentioned that the Lee’s appear to have some hereditary form of dyslexia?? Old Fart had it, daughter has it, grandson of LHY also has it.

Becoz of dyslexia, LWL struggled with spelling in school, but excelled at Mandarin with Chinese characters.

However, LHY’s grandson blamed his struggle with Mandarin on being dyslexic & somehow got MOE to bend the rules to excuse him from learning mother tongue. Later they got him into SAS with special teachers who were trained to teach dyslexics. LKY dissed MOE schools by saying the local teachers were not equipped to teach dyslexics.

LKY even wrote a book about his struggle with dyslexia & donated the proceeds to the S’pore Dyslexic Association. This was back in 2006/2007. With such a condition being so close to home, wonder if the Lee’s ever did try to improve our local schools’ expertise in handling dyslexics. From the ST’s headline, apparently not???
