guilt about chinese dominance among west leaning liberals in SG is now an important political factor; it makes them acceptable to bumi nationalists, who r now added to the old coalition of liberals with gay activists, feminists, anti-death penaltists, making group more strident and potent; in response, chinese chauvinists and church fundamentalists will join forces, overcoming their past difference of 土 vs 洋; each coalition might seem unlikely before, but now looks natural
to SG youth, fighting authoritarianism with all those radicals will feel intoxicatingly liberating, just as HK youth found cantonese natives against mainland authoritarianism intoxicating; there is no reason to believe SG youth will be more rational than HK youth, or american trump fans; what might be different would be the opposing forces they face: PAP elitists/rationalists, who dont understand emotional politics very well, and cultural/religions conservatives, who understand emotions only too well

if trump wins, next 4 years will be worse than last 4; if he loses, his followers will march with guns; nobody knows how it would turn out
